Traffic / Load Analysis

CelPlanner™ can acquire information from different sources, and distribute it according to the demographic regions. CelPlanner™ accepts multiple demographic data, represented as residential, commercial, vehicular, and special events. To determine the positioning of calls, the distribution of subscribers must be known.

Traffic grids can be created with different resolutions, and the source of the demand data can be extracted in a number of different ways such as:

  • A fixed amount of traffic can be distributed across the analysis area.
  • Traffic information can be obtained directly from the demographic data.
  • Traffic layers can be created for different building levels, allowing for modeling of multiple height effects.
  • For networks in live operation, traffic information can be obtained from the switching equipment.
Furthermore, the demographic data can be distributed according to morphological types, providing a much more realistic distribution.

The manipulation of this traffic data is a unique feature within CelPlanner™. The software can generate either statistical random or regular call patterns, accurately simulating real systems behaviour. This unique and powerful combination results in an unprecedented capability in predicting wireless systems behaviour when facing different patterns of traffic load. As such, the traffic simulation can determine the precise number of traffic channels required in each sector for a pre-defined GOS.

Predictions

Accurate and detailed predictions can be generated to illustrate the network's coverage and performance. Predictions provide important information for the RF Engineer on his daily tasks in order to improve his effectiveness. Some of the predictions are listed below:

  • Individual Forward and Reverse Signal Levels
  • Composite Signal Level
  • Best Server
  • BER
  • Adjacent, Co-Channel, and Composite Interference
  • Simultaneous Service Classes
  • Handover

Frequency Planning

CelPlan® provides the tools to perform an efficient frequency or resource planning, with any cellular reuse pattern. Hexagon grids can easily be generated and manipulated to aid the design process.
