PLANNING
POINT-MULTIPOINT SYSTEMS WITH CELPLANNER
Target
Audience
Engineers and technicians working with RF planning for point-multipoint
networks: WLL,, LMDS, MMDS.
Pre-requirements
Basic knowledge of RF propagation and communication systems. Because
CelPlanner™
works on PC platform, we recommend that students have previous knowledge
of Windows systems and Excel spreadsheets.
Goals
Learn and use all features of CelPlanner™
to design point-multipoint systems.
Course
Syllabus
The presentation of each menu is preceded by a theoretical explanation.
The project developed in the course encompasses the following topics:
- Creation of antennas
and radios database for the selected frequency band;
- Preparation of
antennas, topography, morphology, and image databases;
- Generation of
fixed subscribers database, defining location, type, and Tx/Rx antenna
heights. Configuration of radios and traffic demand for voice and
data (upstream and downstream);
- Creation of vector
elements to determine service area contour;
- Creation of region
files;
- Creation of hexagons
grid and automatic distribution of RBSs across the target area;
- Project management
using phases, areas, and flags;
- Definition of
propagation characteristics: prediction models calibration;
- Generation and
analysis of plots with distribution of fixed subscribers;
- Signal level
prediction analysis for fixed subscribers;
- Traffic analysis
for base stations;
- Interconnection
between sites using microwave links;
- Performance analysis
and report generation for microwave network;
- Import and export
of MapInfo files;
- Presentation
of the project in text format.
