Course Syllabus

  • CDMA system evolution history;
  • Codes used in IS-95 and CDMA-2000: maximum length sequences, orthogonal and turbo codes;
  • Spread spectrum systems characteristics:
    • Codes correlation;
    • Processing gain;
    • Rake receivers used in IS-95 and in CDMA-2000;
    • Power control (downlink, uplink) in IS-95 and in CDMA-2000;
    • Handoff: classifications and occurrences in 2G and 3G;
  • Description of IS-95 and CDMA-2000 logical channels;
  • Modulations used in CDMA IS-95 and CDMA-2000 systems;
  • Description of channels used in IS-95 and in CDMA-2000;
  • Basic schemes of call processing involving voice and data;
  • Comparison between TDMA IS-136, AMPS, CDMA IS-95, and CDMA-2000 systems;
