Technology Courses

CELLULAR SYSTEMS OPTIMIZATION

Target Audience
Engineers and technicians working with planning and optimization cellular systems.

Pre-requirements
Knowledge of RF propagation and cellular systems planning.

Goals
Teach a methodology for freeing spectrum to introduce a new generation of cellular systems, aiming at maintenance of service area, improving service quality, and meeting service grade requirements.

Course Syllabus

This course is divided in two parts: theoretical and practical, using CelPlanner Suite.

Theory

  • Migration methodology;
  • Definition of the system to be introduced: GSM/GPRS/EDGE or CDMA2000;
  • Definition of spectrum band required for creation of the new system;
  • Definition of demanded traffic in each sector in the BCH;
  • Traffic demand distribution matrix;
  • Definition of subscriber mobility indexes;
  • Optimization of each sector coverage, without damage to total coverage;
  • Interrelation matrix of sectors enabled in the project;
  • Optimization of resources allocation considering fewer channels in the spectrum.

Practice

  • Definition of a reference project using total spectrum;
  • Optimization of the reference project, using procedure presented and reduced spectrum band;
  • Comparison of results, weighting interference and traffic.

Length

  • 2 days (14 hours)
