frequency (RF) characteristics;
Basic familiarization with RF Planning tools; Knowledge of WiMAX
or LTE Technologies.
Course
Description: This course addresses the needs of anyone
who requires an understanding of the RF network design concepts
of OFDMA. It focuses primarily on WiMAX but the concepts are identical
in LTE network design.
The first portion of the course focuses on overviews of the business
plan section, including defining network objectives. The course
then introduces the network dimensioning requirements of OFDMA
by providing a detailed understanding of the concept of Service
Classes. User data traffic characterization, usage plans, SLA,
Oversubscription and Latency re some of the topics covered.
An overview of RF channel characteristics for OFDMA is discussed,
and a detailed radio link performance diagram is presented. Additional
propagation model considerations and concepts are discussed before
delving into RF interference issues. Here the engineer will get
a detailed view of outage as an expression of interference. A
discussion of resource planning steps, such as footprint enhancement,
frequency reuse schemes and resource optimization follows. Dynamic
traffic simulation is explained and is shown how traffic KPIs
can be obtained.
The second portion of the course goes into extensive detail regarding
the RF design concepts of designing a WiMAX network in 50 steps,
in 7 distinct design phases.
